Technical Offerings:

Morning technical sessions are being offered and will be conducted by peers knowledgeable in the subject matter.  Sessions are designed to provide you with a basic understanding of topics of interest to our members and other wastewater treatment professionals and include the following:

•    Pumps 101 – So many different pumps and so many different applications!  Find out what types of pumps are used in wastewater and what the best applications for each are.
•    Understanding Wastewater Terminology – aerobic, anaerobic, anoxic, etc. – you’ve heard the terms, but what do they all mean?  Come and find out.
•    Process Control Basics – Why do we do process control tests, which are the best ones to do to help me understand my plant and how are they done?
•    Effluent Reuse Programs – Are there alternatives for wastewater discharge other than the receiving stream?  With more and more groundwater restrictions, can effluent be the “new gold” in a water thirsty environment?
•    VFDs – What are they, how do they work and what are the best applications for them?  Are there other options as well for maximizing pump and motor performance?
•    Optimizing DO – Creation of different zones in your tanks and how to optimize aeration for energy efficiency and optimal performance.

The afternoon includes two technical workshops, aimed at providing training and mutual cooperation agreements between industry professionals.  Your choice of workshops includes the following:

•    Lift Station Operation, Troubleshooting and Maintenance Workshop – How to minimize downtime and maximize performance.
•    Math for Operators Workshop – Sessions to cover the math needed in the operators certification exam, broken into two sessions – Class 1 & 2 and Class 3 & 4.
